Constitution Day of India: 26.11.2021

The Library and Information Centre of Progressive Education Society's Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Shivajinagar, Pune-5 today on 26.11.2020 under the guidance of Respected Principal Dr.R.S.Zunjarrao Sir celebrated 'Constitution Day (National Law Day), also known as Samvidhan Divas.' Samvidhan Diwas is celebrated in India on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. The Government of India declared 26 November as Constitution Day on 19 November 2015 by a gazette notification. The Prime Minister of India, Hon’ble Shri. Narendra Modi made the declaration on 11 October 2015 while laying the foundation stone of the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's ‘Statue of Equality’ memorial in Mumbai. 26th November was chosen to spread the importance of the constitution and to spread thoughts and ideas of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.

The programme which was organised in the College Assembly Hall, commenced with paying respect to Bharat Ratna Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and the Constitution Preamble. It was followed by ‘Buddha Vandana’. Brief introduction about ‘Indian Constitution Day’ was presented by College Librarian Dr.S.S.Sengupta. Respected Principal Sir read the Preamble of the Constitution of India which was followed by the faculty members and students present in the hall. Books on the Constitution of India were also displayed in the Assembly Hall.
Principal Sir addressed us regarding the importance of Samvidhan for the Nation and in our Life. Sir also highlighted the important contribution and ideologies of Bharat Ratna Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and what we all can learn from his life.
Amit Salunke, Library Staff presented the vote of thanks for the programme.
All the precautions of COVID-19 were taken during the programme. 
I am thankful to the teaching and non-teaching faculty members, library staff members, Office Staff and Department of Computer Science who were present for the programme.
